Practicalities: before you start MUST HAVE • Tax file number (unless you like to pay 48.5% tax!) • Apply via the ATO online or at a participating post office FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF ROLES • Blue Card (working with children) Apply online via the Public Safety Business Agency • Responsible Service of Alcohol (if you will be working with alcohol i.e. as a bartender) Complete online for $49 KNOW YOUR WORK RIGHTS/RESTRICTIONS!

  3. Where to look? • CareerBoard • Seek, MyCareer, Career One • Craigslist, Gumtree • Approach employers close to where you live • Your own network

  4. Retail/sales (Top employment sector for number of casual jobs) Hospitality Tutoring (freelance and flexible through tuition companies) Administrative/clerical roles Degree-related (internships, vacation programs, contract work) Even if the position isn’t related to what you’re studying, you’ll still gain desirable transferable skills! What types of opportunities are available?
