Purposes for Assessment • Screener • Provides information about which students are meeting or exceeding benchmark and which students are at risk • Centennial uses DIBELS Next for the universal screener • Diagnostic • Provides in-depth information about a student’s skills and instructional needs • Progress Monitor • Provides information about whether a student is making adequate progress and if the current instruction or intervention is effective for them • Centennial uses DIBELS Next • Outcome Measure • Provides a bottom-line evaluation of the effectiveness of programs • Centennial uses the Stanford assessment

  4. Screener-provides information about which students are meeting or exceeding benchmark and which students are at risk • DIBELS Next • 3 x’s per year • BOY (Beginning of Year) • MOY (Middle of Year) • EOY (End of Year)

  5. Outcome Measure-provides a bottom-line evaluation of the effectiveness of programs • Stanford-10 Online (SAT-10) • Reading Vocabulary & Reading Comprehension • Math Problem Solving & Math Procedures • First 2 wks of May • 2010 - 2011

  6. Statewide Assessment-mandated by Nebraska Department of Education • NeSA-Reading – Gr. 3-8, 11 • 2 consecutive days in April • NeSA-Writing – Gr. 4, 8, 11 • Last two weeks of January – First week of February • NeSA-Mathematics – Gr. 3-8, 11 • 2 consecutive days in April • NeSA-Science – Gr. 5, 8, 11 • 2 consecutive days in April
