YOUR CLASSES • Observation & Practice Teaching (thirteen weeks) EDUC 4133 • EDUC 4244 Visual Arts • EDUC 4254 Music Education • EDUC 4264 Health and Physical Education • EDUC 4274 Mathematics Education • EDUC 4284 Science Education • EDUC 4294 Social Studies • EDUC 2091 and EDUC 2092 Sociology for Educators

Police Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening • You require a PBC (with a VSS) for your Service Learning Placement. • You can use the same PBC for both SL and PT • Begin the process of obtaining a police check on August 19, 2013. • Deadline for receiving PBC: Friday December 6, 2013

  5. Failure to provide a PBC by December 6 will result in the full cancellation of ALL placements

  6. PROFESSIONAL WEEK • Classes on campus will be cancelled for the week. • You will attend a week-long Professional Week at the North Bay Campus. • You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Federations and other Educational organizations. • Faculty members present 20 minute tool box sessions. • If it is deemed necessary, we will schedule another meeting with Cindy Forth in order to discuss AQs and ABQs. • Accommodations will be provided.

  7. PRACTICUM • Practice Teaching Blocks January 13-February 28, 2013 (seven weeks) March 3-April 18, 2013 (six weeks, excluding March Break) • Will be requesting a placement in both divisions • It is crucial that students not go behind the scenes to look for a placement for themselves. PLEASE be patient.

  8. PRACTICUM CONT’D • During term two you will not be required to come to campus for formal classes. • You will be invited to attend the Education Job Fair usually scheduled the end of January. You will be given permission to miss one day of your placement.

  9. PRACTICUM CONT’D • In September you will be able to apply for International placement. • International placements are normally for three weeks. • The opportunity to participate is not guaranteed. • We will provide students with an information session in September and discuss how to apply.

  10. NEXT STEPS… • Complete the board choice form, supplying three board choices. (Sandra will email to all students) • You will indicate interest in an International placement on the form. • You will complete Placement Information by signing and dating the form. Return the form to Sandra Minor on Monday March 7, 2013
