  1. Tips for Evaluating Business Systems Learn how districts face the challenge of starting the evaluation process for new business systems. For example: In what areas does my district struggle most? Have we defined a software wish list for a new system? Get a snapshot of what is in today's marketplace and how other districts have met this challenge.

  5. Planning Phase • What are my business challenges? • Department and Board buy-in? • Is an RFP needed? Required? • Goals – end result? • What system will we evaluate?

  6. Evaluation Phase • Is the product K-12 specific? • Are software updates included? • Is your wish list being met? • Do you have site visits scheduled? Reference checks.

  7. Implementation • Is your data ready to go? • What role does the vendor play in this process? • Does training rate include all fees? • Is consulting provided? • Is a dedicated project manager assigned to your district?

  8. On-going Support Services • What type of support does the vendor offer? • What is your district process? • Where is customer support located? • What is the average response time? • Do you have a User Group in our state?
