How to Place Holds on Library Items Using Geoweb

Learn how to place a hold or reserve an item currently checked out from Coquitlam Public Library using our online catalogue. Start by visiting library.coquitlam.bc.ca and searching for the item by title, subject, or author. If the item is out on loan, access its full record and click the "Place a Hold" option. Enter your library card number, last name's first four letters, and password to validate your account. Follow the prompts to confirm your hold and return to search as needed. For assistance, contact Poirier Branch or Citycentre Branch.

  1. How to Place Holds using Geoweb • to place a hold or reserve on an item that is currently out on loan, you will need to locate the item via our catalogue • our catalogue is available at: library.coquitlam.bc.ca Click to view each next slide

  2. - the link to the catalogue is at the top of the screen

  3. click on: • Coquitlam Public Library Catalogue

  4. - click on one of the following: Title Subject Author Series All of the Above • enter your search words • click on browse - if you are uncertain as to title, subject, author, etc. – use keyword search

  5. - in this example, we are looking for Breakfast at Tiffany’s – the dvd - click on the matching title to see the record for that item

  6. since both copies are signed out, we will need to place a hold on this item- to place a hold, you must click on Full Record

  7. - on the full record screen, you will see the place a hold box at the left of the screen – click on it

  8. the Hold Patron Check screen appears- enter your library card number- enter the first 4 letters of your last name- enter your password - click on Validate Patron Privileges

  9. your name and card number will be verified- the pickup location is noted along with the number of holds- click on Commit Hold if you still wish to place the hold

  10. - the Hold Response window will verify the Hold … - click on Return to Search to go back to the catalogue
