  1. How to Place Holds Using your account and the Cecil County Public Library’s online catalog (Click the Mouse to advance to the next slide)

The Cecil County Public Library • Allows you to place holds on library materials that are checked out (as long as there are no restrictions on your account) through the library’s catalog. • You may select the library branch location where you’d like the material to be sent. • When the item comes in, you will be called. You have a few days to come in and pick up your item(s). (Click the Mouse to advance to the next slide)

  3. Step One: Find an item you’d like. Step Two: If that item is checked out by someone else, you may place a hold on it. Click this slide five times for the details. When you are finished, click your Mouse to advance to the next slide. This item (#31) is currently checked out and the wait time is estimated to be about 12 days. The catalog will state “No copies currently available” and tell you the estimated wait time. If you would like to place a hold on it, press “Details.”

  4. Step Three: After you select “Details”, you will be brought to a screen like this one. Now you can “Place Hold.” Click on the link (Click the Mouse to advance to the next slide)

  5. Step Four: You will now be directed to enter your Library card number in the User ID field and your PIN (leave “Alt ID” blank). Press “Place Hold.” (Click the Mouse to advance to the next slide)

  6. You’re done!You will see a screen that verifies your account number and the item you placed a hold on.When the item becomes available, you will be called.Now you’re ready to learn how to renew your library materials. To close this Presentation, press the or in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
