Overview: What is IRIS? • Consortium of 113 US Universities • National Science Foundation Funded • $12.5 - $14.5 million per year • $14.4 million EarthScope Funding • Four Programs • GSN • ~160 permanent stations • PASSCAL • 5000 portable channels • E&O • Workshops, posters, museum displays • DMS • >14,000 stations over 40 years • Archives 20 terabytes per year • Distributes 80 terabytes per year • Services 800,000 data requests per year

  3. IRIS facilitates seismological research • Installs and operates the infrastructure needed by earth scientists to understand the complex Earth. • Supports facilities in permanent networks, portable networks and data management services.
