  1. A Detailed Overview of Lung Cancer Treatments Available A treatment of lung cancer depends on numerous factors, including the kind of lung cancer (non- small or small cell lung cancer), the dimension, site and level of the tumor and the general wellbeing of the patient. Diverse treatments and combinations of treatments might be used to diminish severe symptoms to improve quality of life and to control this cancer. Surgery routes for lung cancer Segmental or wedge resection: An operation to eliminate a small portion or wedge of the affected lung. Lobectomy: The lung cancer surgeon in Delhi removes a whole lobe of the affected lung. Pneumonectomy: The surgeon takes away the whole lung. Some patients are inept to undergo surgery for other health causes and some cancers are inoperable (cannot be removed by operation) owing to the dimension or location. For now, surgery is the solitary treatment that offers an ultimate remedy. However, only half of patients with this cancer in lungs are sturdy enough to be considered surgical contenders. Treatments used for lung cancer Chemotherapy: An anticancer medication that is used to kill tumor cells. Chemotherapy might be used to control cancer growth or to relieve symptoms. If it is used just to control symptoms, it is a palliative cure. Even after the cancer has been eradicated from the lung, the cancer cells may still be present in neighboring tissue or anywhere else in the body. Radiation or Radiotherapy Therapy: High-energy rays to annihilate the tumor cells to a limited zone and only affect cancer cells within that region. Radiation treatment can also be used before undergoing surgery to curtail the tumor, or after operation to destroy any tumor cells remaining in the treated region. Radiation therapy pooled with chemotherapy is often used as a chief or first treatment instead of surgery. Radiation treatment can also be used to relieve other signs like shortness of breath or pain. Clinical trials: Assessments of new ways to treat cancer. At times, trials are a route for various lung cancer patients to get treatment not yet in the open marketplace - treatments of lung cancer. When the cancer cannot be removed via surgery, photodynamic therapy may be used to reduce symptoms of lung cancer like controlling bleeding or relieving breathing complications because of clogged-up airways. Photodynamic therapy can also treat minor tumors in those patients where normal treatments for lung cancer are not appropriate.
