  1. PDHPE Game Sense Approach ‘WHAT IS YOUR CHILD LEARNING?’

  2. Games and sports are a major part of PDHPE. Game Sense Approach is a skill students develop as a Fundamental Movement Skill (FMS). It’s a processes that will increase both the students movement and decision making skills which are part of the PDHPE syllabus. This helps students in developing competence and confidence. The game sense approach is applied with a range of skills for games and activities and as has our students attitudes alongside their behavior towards the PDHE curriculum an increase of positivity ( 2014). With the Game Sense Approach in the PDHPE syllabus, it allows the children to develop a great understanding on their safety considerations and also have a better understanding of the benefits of being part of and participating in PDHPE games and sports. Its also a way of encouraging students to have a choice of activity and allow them to improve on their teamwork, interacting, decision making skills and also improve practice in PDHPE.   3. Game Sense Approach in PDHPE is a fundamental element as part of teaching students. When working towards the teaching the game, instead of emphasizing on the techniques used, students and children will become more strategically aware and will also gain better knowledge and decision making during games and between their team members. Helping students to use ad develop tactical skills with in a realistic environment, but most importantly is to have a good time (2014).

  5. Rationale: Teaching the syllabus is important. Game Sense Approach is part of each stage of teaching PDHPE. The syllabus has the knowledge and understanding outcomes of Games and Sports which focuses on Game Sense Approach: GSES1.8: Demonstrates fundamental movement skills while playing with and sharing equipment. GSS1.8: Performs Fundamental movement skills with equipment in minor games. GSS2.8: Participates and uses equipment in a variety of games and modified sports. GSS3.9: Applies movement skills in games and sports that require communication, cooperation, decision making and observation of rules. Game Sense Approach is central aspect of teaching PDHPE , it’s a method and pain strategy of teaching students skills and develops the students thinking about sport and physical activity.

The syllabus also takes account of the skills outcomes that are part of teaching the methods of Game Sense, focusing on stage 3 the sills outcomes are: Decision Making DMS2.2: Makes decisions as an individual and as a group member. Moving MOS2.4: Displays a focus on quality of movement in applying movement skills to a variety of familiar and new situations Overall, students will be learning and understanding the content of Game Sense Approach, as a skill composed of students confidence and ability in many sorts and physical activity, developing Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) will help also develop students movement and decision making skills. But most importantly is for students to have fun.
