  24. Teacher Student Data Link

  25. Teacher Student Data Link Overview What is it? TSDL will help school districts in creating data links with students and the educators responsible for their learning. • Improve instruction. • Inform and increase educator effectiveness. • Supporting the continuous improvement of teaching and learning. • Provide a best practice framework for: • Teacher of record definition • Roster Verification- for collecting and validating linked teacher and student data. • Conduct research on data trends Why are we doing this?

  26. TSDL Data Use • What will CDE do with this data? • Provide educator effectiveness data to preparation programs for program improvement • Research best practices that result in increased student outcomes • Deploy department resources to areas or regions with demonstrated needs • What can districts do with TSDL Data? • Provide differentiated support to teachers • Support teachers to personalize classroom instruction • Inform educator evaluation and staffing assignments • Identify and deploy district resources to meet demonstrated needs

  27. Teacher Student Data Link (TSDL) Pilot Training • Weekly Webinar Every Tuesday • 11:00 to 12:00 pm • Conference Call: 1-866-305-5704 • Web Link: http://connect.enetcolorado.org/r5i5d3g4che/ • Purpose: • Provide CDE collection owner with an overview of the To-Be process and walkthrough of the TSDL interchange in the Data Pipeline application • Host: Chris Vance

  28. TSDL Pilot Training Agenda • Purpose of TSDL (High Level) • Pilot and Application Logistics • Collection Process • Application Training/Walkthrough • Questions for Pilot Districts about the applications

  35. Discipline

  36. 36 Discipline Phase I Pilot Summary A handful of districts and AUs were able to participate in the Discipline Phase I Pilot May 6th – May 20th THANK YOU The expectation for Phase II Pilot will be for ALL districts and AUs to participate. More information will be forth coming as it becomes available.

  37. 37 Discipline Phase I Pilot Summary All the bugs that were discovered during the two week pilot have been logged into the system and are currently in the process of being addressed. We were able to check a number of the interchange functionality which seemed to be working as expected. Due to a number of issues, it wasn’t possible to get very far into the snapshot components of the system requiring extensive additional testing and focused Phase II Piloting efforts.

  38. 38 Discipline Phase I Pilot Summary Reports Something comparable to the internal District Status Report that is run throughout the collection that provides the number of records submitted, the level a district is in, etc. will need to be created for all collections. We weren’t able to get to a point during the Phase I Pilot to get into the Duplicate Process which will be necessary to check inconsistencies in reporting which affect disproportionalities and monitoring. Due to the limitations around finalizing the snapshot, we weren’t able to test the accuracy of the Data Summary Report,Indicator 4 Report, or the Year to Year Report. Exceptions The Special Education Discipline Collection has two exceptions: Programs and Grade to Age. There is currently a gap for dealing with program exceptions which has been logged in as a bug. We are considering adding the field “Program Code” to coincide with the Special Education EOY and December Count Collections. And will bring the request to EDAC late June. The Grade to Age exception has not been accounted for and has been logged as a defect. Edits With the change to the file layouts to compensate for both the Safety and Discipline and the Special Education Discipline along with the inclusion of new fields, additional edits will need to be created.

  39. 39 Discipline Pilot Status Update Bugs/Enhancements found and reported • Data Pipeline wide issue when downloading reports from Cognos as CSV • Missing Discipline Code for Classroom Suspension/Teacher Removal • When creating the snapshot in the drop down, the AU# and Name is repeating requiring the AU to guess which district matches up to the name. Name should be listed once with all districts associated to the AU. • Missing the Duplicate Process Report • Missing the internal District Status Report • Reported the program exception solution gap • Missing Grade to Age Exception Process • Logging out as one user to log in as another user doesn’t take the respondent back to login screen. • Blank data populating from other interchanges when creating a snapshot. • Missing a validity check when a record is created in the Action file but not the Incident file, and vice a versa. • Need a new warning for identical records • Enhancement to combine all the detail reports into one report

  40. 40 Discipline Pilot Status Update Please feel free to e-mail me any issues, concerns, and/or suggestions you have. Kristi A. Gleason gleason_k@cde. state.co.us 303-866-4620 THANK YOU
