  4. What is e-learning? 1/2 • Defined widely: • Online access to learning resources, anywhere and anytime (Holmes & Gardner, 2006) • Always networked, delivered via standard internet connection, focuses on the whole concept of learning (Rosenberg, 2000) • Learning (Cross, 2004)

  5. What is e-learning? 2/2 • E-learning refers to distance learning with ICT participation in a significant role. The main focus of e-learning is in on-line learning but in this thesis off-line learning is also considered as e-learning.

  19. Results • Challenges • E-learning production is a rather complex combination of technology, learning, multimedia production and information technology product development. • The acknowledged obstacle in e-learning production is the information flow between the producer and the customer.

Results • Clearer milestones • the process does not proceed further until all the information needed for the next stage is obtained • Production control system • It seems that the current market has no PCS for a development that is globally distributed and would map well to the e-learning production and all its phases
