  1. ECEU403 Electronics Lab • Five Labs, each lasts for two weeks • Part (1): Build and measure the performance of electronic circuits. Develop an understanding of electronic components (first week) • Part (2): Use the knowledge gained in part (1) to design, build and test an electronic circuit to meet specifications (second week) • If you finish Part (1) early, feel free to proceed to Part (2)

  2. What you need • A lab notebook • prefer a HARDBOUND book with graph paper • A lab partner • if you don’t have one, just pick a lab bench and we will assign a partner

  3. Before Part (1) • Read the lab • Complete the prelab questions • these will prepare you to understand the lab experiment better. • You may want to make a copy of your prelab for use during Part (1). Questions in the experiment will be related to your prelab work.

  4. During Part (1) • Arrive on-time • you will have two hours to complete the lab • Check-out the equipment for ECEU403 from the lab techs (be sure to indicate the course number so you get the right stuff) • Hand-in the prelab to the TA • Begin working on the lab as soon as possible

  5. After Part (1) • Complete the Lab Report • Each person must write their own report • This is not a group report! • Follow the guidelines for lab report format • Reconsider your design for Part (2) before the second week

  6. During Part (2) • Arrive on time, and get the equipment for the lab tech • Hand-in your lab report from Part (1) • Late Reports (-10% per day) to 520 DANA. • Build and test your design, paying attention to the design specs! • When your design is working, carefully record the design in your lab notebook. • Before leaving, demonstrate the design to the TA, or me, and get the lab notebook initialed. • There is NO write-up required for the design.

  7. Grading • Prelabs: 25% • Lab Reports: 65% • Lab Notebook: 10% • notebooks will be collected and graded after Lab 4, Part (2).
