Course outlines: • Introduction, Update of solid state Physics • Physics at surfaces: Overview of physical and chemical properties that change when the materials considered are a few nanometres in Size • Discussion of different nanostructure fabrication methods • Introduction to nano-scale materials imaging techniques: Physical principle and operation. • Non-magnetic materials- types – Application • Introduction to superconductivity- Super conductivity in nano-scale • Organic nano-layers: chemical and preparation, application in surface chemistry and biological probe • Quantum dot and electron transfer in nano-tubes
