  1. Important Tips to Care for Your Baby’s Developing Teeth

  2. Baby’s Developing Teeth • Seeing your baby’s first tooth erupt brings you joy. But it could also mean discomfort for your little one. • The discomfort should subside on its own, and once it does, don’t forget the next crucial steps that is to care for your baby’s mouth. • Keeping a healthy set of teeth is beneficial for your child’s overall health.

  3. Take Note of these Tips to Help your Little One Avoid Dental issues:

  4. Clean Your Baby’s Teeth and Gums • Use a wet washcloth or gauze in wiping your baby’s teeth and gums. Do this at least twice a day once you see their tooth come in. • If your child is already a toddler, or around age 1 or 2, talk to your doctor about using a toothbrush and toothpaste. • Your doctor will be able to recommend a brand or product that’s safe for little ones who still are unable to spit.

  5. Look After Your Baby’s Bottle Usage • It’s inevitable to give your baby a bottle especially if he’s formula-fed. But avoid letting the bottle linger in their mouth after each feeding. • Keep the bottle away from his reach when not in use. Also, avoid giving your baby fruit juices and practice giving him more water instead. • Be sure to ask your pediatrician, though, when it’s already safe to give water to your little one.

  6. Supervise Your Baby’s Use of Pacifier • It’s hard to stop your baby from using his pacifier if it’s keeping him comfortable. • But little by little, practice reducing his pacifier usage. Also, avoid dipping the pacifier to sweets and always keep it clean. • Prolonged use of pacifier is not advisable for your baby’s developing teeth and mouth. This may cause teeth alignment issues later on.

  7. Introduce Your Baby to Teeth-Friendly Food • Moderate your baby’s intake of sweets. Sugary food and drinks can be their tooth’s worst enemy. • If you must give them treats occasionally, do it during mealtimes. • The mouth produces more saliva during mealtimes.

  8. Give Them Safe Teething Toys • When a choosing teething toy for your little one, check to see that it’s not a choking hazard or has no harmful ingredients. • Beware of teether’s with small removable parts. Choose one that’s large enough so your baby won’t be able to swallow it.

  9. Have Their Dental Injuries Checked • Babies and toddlers love walking. If they fall down or hurt their teeth, have them seen by your dentist. • Your dentist will be able to recommend the best action to take afterward. • Often, keeping an eye on your little one is enough but if the injury is already bothering you, there’s no harm in booking an appointment with your trusted dentist.
