  4. Reminder – O.S.S. Diploma Requirements • 30 credits - 18 compulsory credits - 12 optional credits • 40 hours of community involvement • Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement (OSSLT)

  5. Considerations for Senior Students • Pick the right pathway: Research destinations • City –distance, size, transportation . . . • Schools—size, characteristics, • Programs available, specialties/expertise • Get real: Set realistic goals • Marks—average, prerequisites, EFFORT • Money—lots!

Figure this out at COLLEGE DAY • Next Tuesday, Oct 16, 2018 • This is an opportunity for you to meet with representatives from all 23 Ontario public colleges • Event takes place at Lambton College • Transportation is provided • Dismissed at 10:00 am – go to Gym A/B for attendance • Leave at 10:15 am – return to GLSS at 12:15 pm

  9. College Day To Do: Get your Permission Form signed (included in your package)Sign the sheet in Student ServicesBe here next Tuesday, October 16 ready to get on the bus at 10:15 am – back at 12:15 pm

  10. Important Dates and Deadlines • Early October, 2019: Online Application Opens • Free OCAS Application – November 6, 2018 • Feb. 1, 2019: Equal Consideration Date + Earliest Offer Date • May 1, 2019: Deadline to Confirm Offers of Admission • Mid-June, 2019: Tuition Deposit Due

Step # 1 – Get a FREE Application ($95.00 value) Tuesday, November 6, 2018 during the Lambton College Travelling Roadshow here at GLSS During block B you will meet with Lambton College program representatives in Gym C Lambton College will be providing vouchers to students with completed college applications in computer labs 109 and 110 during block B and lunch Start you application prior to November 6 Be prepared !!!

  15. Now that you have the application taken care of: How are you going to pay for: Tuition Books Rent Food Entertainment Etc…

  16. Some possibilities: • Savings • Help from mom, dad or a relative • OSAP • Presentation from OSAP representative in the spring. You need to apply to college and accept an offer before you apply for OSAP. • Scholarships (marks) and Bursaries (financial need) • GLSS, LKDSB and many more
