Objectives for Today’s Session As a result of today’s session, you will: • Be aware of the funding opportunities provided by CE-FCS Ambassadors • Be aware of the funding opportunities provided by Leadership Development Community Engagement Grants • Understand the application requirements and judging process

  3. Bylaws of OHCE, Inc. Article II – Object The object of this organization shall be to promote the mission of OHCE to strengthen individuals, families and communities through education, leadership development and action, in cooperation with the affiliated county and local groups.

  6. History Since 1991, Ambassadors has awarded 325 grants totaling more than $125,000 for county, multi-county and state programming. The grant program was expanded to include Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) in 1996.

  7. Purpose The purpose of Ambassadors has always been clear. As a group we are to increase the visibility of FCS programming. We are also charged with identifying and funding FCS projects and programs needed by Oklahoma families.

  8. Donations You can support the educational endeavors of Ambassadors that benefit Oklahoma families and youth by becoming a member or making a contribution in honor or memory of an individual or group. http://ambassadors.okstate.edu

Grants OHCE County/Group Grant • Team of County OHCE members &may include an Extension Educator • The total amount available is $4000 maximum of $800 per application • Committee is encouraged to select at least one proposal from each of the four districts but allowed flexibility based on number and quality of applications

  15. LDCE Grant • The Mariee C. Wallace and the Leadership Development and Citizen Engagement (LDCE) Steering Committee oversee the LDCE Grants. • LDCE is an educational effort of two partnering organizations: Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) and Oklahoma Home and Community Education, Inc. (OHCE).

  16. LDCE Grants • LDCE grants are to provide seed money for emerging leaders to develop and refine leadership skills through training or working on a project for the community, neighborhood or county. • The proposed project or training must foster leadership development and citizen involvement. • Emerging leaders learn about leadership when they test and practice their skills by working on a project or participating in leadership development training that results in personal or community improvement.

LDCE Grants Criteria to consider: • Significance of need for leadership development—this need should be clearly described in the proposal • Evidence of how emerging leaders will increase and/or enhance their leadership skills • Evidence of collaboration among individuals or groups (i.e., school, 4-H, volunteer, and/or professional groups) • Projected impact of leadership training and/or project

  20. LDCE Details • WHO CAN APPLY? OHCE members, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) staff and/or an individual/group sponsored by OHCE or OCES. Ideally, applications should include a county educator (FCS and/or 4-H) plus an OHCE member or volunteer. • AWARD AMOUNT: $1,000
