  2. College Pays An education beyond high school pays. • A student who leaves high school without a diploma or GED can expect to earn $15,214.00 per year and a student with a two year associates degree can expect to earn $31, 270.00 according to the US Census Bureau.

College Pays • 27% of all job openings between 2000 and 2008 will require more than 1 year of post secondary education, but less than 4 years of education after high school. • 31% of jobs will require a high school diploma or a GED. • 19% of all job openings will require four or more years of college education.   5. College Pays • High School Graduate • may earn minimum wage, e.g., $8.07 an hour. • ($13,549.40 per year after taxes: $1,129.11 a month) • No medical, dental or vision benefits.

  6. College Pays • Professional-technical college graduate (1-2 years): • May earn $12 or higher per hour • ($23, 827.20 after taxes) • Employers may provide dental, health, vision and retirement benefits.

  7. College Pays • Four year college graduates may earn: • $20.11 an hour • ($30, 537.36 take home pay after taxes) • Jobs typically include dental, health and vision benefits • Employers may pay for continued education • Employers have liberal retirement benefits.

  8. College Pays • Graduates with a Master’s degree may earn: • From $20.00 to $64.00 per hour. • Job benefits include organizational dues paid by company, continuing education fees, medical, dental and vision benefits, and receive a variety of investment opportunities for retirement.

  9. College Pays • A person with a professional or doctoral degree (9 – 10 years of post-secondary education) can earn above $67,404 a year. Physician’s can earn $167, 880 or more per year.
