  1. English 9 5/14 Mr. Verutes Aim: Romeo & Juliet - Act I Read Aloud Do Now: 1. Take out the Questioning Texts Worksheet you completed for Romeo and Juliet. Pass the worksheet to the front of each row to be collected for homework credit. 2. Review the chart on the following page. As we begin reading aloud from the text, write down the act, scene, and line numbers, character speaking, and character(s) being spoken to for any key passages we read aloud in the text. Keep your chart in the classwork section of your binder. We will complete a chart for each act to help identify key passages for discussion in your journal entries.

Each quote must be at least 2-3 lines in length and each set of response notes must be 2-3 sentences in length. Make sure to review your classwork chart of key scenes to help identify passages to discuss and respond to in your journal. Make sure to cite your entries with the act, scene, and line number(s) and include the character speaking in your entry. Remember that ALL of your journal entries should help us to answer our text-specific question: “According to Romeo and Juliet, what does Shakespeare teach us about the theme of love and relationships? What different kinds of love are presented in the play and which characters are involved?” • EX:
