  3. About the German Node • Working with / for MP since 2001 • Z_punkt GmbH the Foresight Company founded the German Node in March 2003, and has chaired it since. (core working Cornelia Daheim, Node Chair, and Dr. Gereon Uerz). • A Planning Committee embraces main futures studies’ institutions in Germany: • Dr. Guenter Clar, Steinbeis Academy • Dr. Kerstin Cuhls, Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe • Robert Gassner, Institute for Future Studies and Technology Assessment in Berlin • Prof. Dr. Gerhard de Haan, Free University of Berlin (educational studies) • Prof. Dr. Peter H. Mettler, Professor for Societal Science and Sociology of Planning and Technology • Dr. Axel Zweck, German Association of Engineers, Future Technologies Division, Duesseldorf • One new member: • Gaby Schuette, from the Secretariat for Futures Studies, an independent, interdisciplinary research institute (www.sfz.de), Gelsenkirchen

German Node - Activities 2006/2007Technology Survey • Survey conducted by the German Node (German only) • Motivation: • Starting a common project • Demonstrating feasibility of generating relevant, valid results with a simple and short questionnaire concept • Possibility of enlarging project to international level with MP as a whole • Main question: Which future technologies have the strongest impact on which other sectors (expected results for example: Biotech is expected to have the strongest impact on society; media opinion leaders expect strong impacts from Nano on industry, while researchers do not) • Status: • About 110 answers from • Opinion leaders - Experts, scientists, private sector, NGOs • Analysis to be started • Results will be shared with MP PC • To be presented to public in form of articles by German Node

German Node - Plans for 2007/2008 • Deepening / refreshing co-operation with other Nodes • English website for German Node • Regular Updates and Mailing List Infos to be sent • Completing Technology Survey of German Node • Analysis • Sharing Results with MP PC • Discussing feasibility of transferring approach to MP as a whole • Stronger and more professional PR for SOF and MP • Press release for SOF 2007 • Trying to have individual reviews of SOF placed
