  2. Mission The Ottawa Wireless Cluster (OWC) continually strives to cultivate and accelerate Ottawa’s wireless sector through leadership, technology, government relations, research, education, mentoring,investment, recruiting, networking and promotion.

  3. The OWC is.. • A forum for networking and idea exchange • An industry advocate speaking to elected officials and regulators • A promoter of the industry’s progress, successes, goals and positions to national and international media • A business development service provider to member companies

Goals • Work together with wireless infrastructure companies, investors, educational institutions, government agencies, standards bodies and other technology companies • Build awareness of Ottawa’s wireless industry in Canada, USA and Internationally • Assist Ottawa's wireless industryto develop new business opportunities • Develop human resource capabilities in wireless to generate innovation and growth

  5. Seed Cluster • Seed Cluster – started in June 2002 • Mix of established firms and startups • Establish Ottawa as an internationally recognized center of excellence for wireless • Helping develop new business opportunities for Ottawa’s wireless industry

Encourage Linkages • Product and market development partnerships • Educational and training linkages – Ottawa U., Carleton and Algonquin • Innovation linkages – NRC, CRC, NCIT, CITO, OWRA • Government – Industry Canada, CRTC • Financial – raise awareness in banking, Angel and VC communities • Commercial – reaching out to Clusters in BC, California, Boston, Cambridge UK • Australia and New Zealand?
