  2. BIAS • First, you have a bias… • We all have it • We cannot always help it • We’re not always aware of it • BIAS is where our OPINIONS come from

  3. OPINION • Second, you develop an opinion… • The opinions you have are a result of your bias • The result of your experiences • Your thoughts and feelings about something

  4. SLANTING • Third, you want everyone to have the same opinion!... • When someone wants to CONVINCE you or SWAY you to have the same OPINION as them • Typically done through pieces of writing (ex: newspaper or magazine articles) • Also done through ADVERTISING (ex: political ads)

  5. BIAS leads to OPINIONS • OPINIONS lead to SLANTING • You SLANT things to get everyone on your side!
