CPIM Certification Courseware 2010 CPIM Courseware Updates • By December 2010, all 5 CPIM modules will have been redesigned and updated. • Going forward, we will update each module every year as required to stay synced with the ECM and current per the 2011 Strategic Priorities. • Note: CPIM prices will increase in 2011 by 17% covering inflation since the last price increase in 2003.

  4. CSCP Certification Courseware 2010 CSCP Learning System • Sales running 22% up from 2009 and a number of months have seen the highest sales for the same period since the product was released in 2005. • Very minor changes are being made to the 2011 CSCP Learning System. • Note: CSCP prices will remain at the current level until after update in 2011.

  5. Customer Focused Supply Chain Management New in 2010: • Generates interest in supply chain management and APICS products and services from a broader range of professionals within corporate organizations. • Provides APICS partners with wedge product for selling their services to corporations. • Expands APICS’ reach into the corporation.

  6. Global Sourcing and Lean Enterprise Workshop Series • We continue to receive great feedback on these courses, but the sales are low. • Lowering the price did not result in higher sales. • Considering options for these courses such as breaking them into components.

  9. Provide new entrants into the field of operations management with: A foundation knowledge of the principles of operations management in the manufacturing and distribution environment. A working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and language of operations management. An understanding of how operations management strategies impact the overall goals of the organization. A window into how to apply critical management techniques and tools to efficiently run operations processes. Release schedule: Currently we plan to release the workshops individually as they are completed: Principles of Inventory Management in 2010; Principles of Operations Planning, Principles of Manufacturing Management, and Principles of Distribution and Logistics in 2011; and Principles of Managing Operations in 2012.   10. APICS Interactive Learning Instructor development: first group trained in September 2010. Second group will be trained during the VLW on Sunday, October 17th .. Marketing has begun to assist partners in putting classes together. Instructors can receive training on-line at: http://www.apics.org/InstructorCenter/ilearning.htm Note: All the webinars are available at no-cost, and they will be recorded and archived on the APICS Instructor Center. If you access an archived webinar, you must participate in a post-webinar online quiz. This enables APICS to confirm, you have participated in the webinar.

College Credit for CPIM and CSCP Exams September 21st, National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI) awarded college credit for APICS exams: BSCM: 3 credit hours associate & bachelor’s degrees DSP: 2 credit hours bachelor’s degree ECO: 2 credit hours bachelor’s degree MPR: 2 credit hours bachelor’s degree SMR: 3 credit hours bachelor’s degree CSCP: 3 credit hours bachelor’s degree Important to individuals who are seeking employer support for their exam expenses.

  14. Recertification Exam Candidates with expired CPIM designations can renew their certification by taking only one exam.   16. APICS Dictionary, 13th Edition • The new dictionary had a soft release at APICS 2010. • Some necessary words and definitions were omitted. • Staff is working hard with certification committee heads to address the issues and release a new version by year end.

  17. Operations Management Now • This publication has gained many loyal readers. In North America and abroad, APICS staff hear directly it is well received among members. • Circulation is up 30,000 in 2010—a total of 93,800 readers. • The most popular recent topics—judged by open rate—include retail operations, Abe/Karl’s trip to Brazil, and career pathing.

APICS magazine Nov./Dec. green issue • The upcoming issue of the magazine will be a digital edition. • It will offer insights and information on sustainable operations, warehousing and logistics with a green focus, change management for sustainability-focused initiatives,and more. • Extras include animated artwork, an interview with the author of “Relevant Research,” and a green quiz on how to outsmart waste.

  19. APICS OMBOK Framework • 2010 update will include more information on risk management and sustainability, specifically the 10 Principles of the U.N. Global Compact • 2011 update will be more extensive, tackling such issues as operations management in retail and in health care.

Operations Management Employment Outlook Members may access the full report at apics.org/research. • APICS and the University of North Carolina Wilmington developed this forward looking index to chart industry professionals’ forecasts of employment in critical industry sectors. • 57 percent of respondents with hiring responsibility anticipate hiring in the next 12 months with many starting in the third quarter this year. • 90 percent of those with hiring responsibility noted they plan to hire in one or more of the following operations areas: • execution and control of operations • purchasing or customer relations management • quality • resource planning • supply chain management

Material Managers Competency Model • With the incredible success of the Supply Chain Competency Model decided to keep the ball rolling. • Re-convened the 2010 Future Leaders to work with the Research staff to produce the next competency model. • Model based on career research performed in 2010. • More to come!

  24. 2010 Marketing Strategy • Online advertising was introduced as a primary marketing tactic this year. • E-mail marketing continued as a key tactic and a new service provider will improve segmentation capabilities. • Landing pages were developed and organizational improvements were made to the website to increase the user’s ability to locate products and services. • Direct mail and printing were decreased with no negative impact.

Google Campaign Overview Impressions: 92,053,888 Clicks: 77,744 (cost per click $1.61) Visits to apics.org: 42,489 New Members: 171 Purchases: 120 Lead Forms Completed: 2,314 The leads from the CSCP and CPIM demo are strongly influenced by the Google campaign.
