  2. The Pomo Who in the world are the Pomo Indians?A person, a country, No. They are a Native American Tribe! The Pomo live in Northern, California on the coast. They live near the Russian River inland too. They also lived near lakes, streams, Rivers, vallies, mountains, and rolling hills and near the Pacific ocean. The summer was warm and the winter was mild. I will tell you everything about the Pomo homes, food, jobs, clothing, celebrations, and Interesting facts.

  3. Homes The Pomo’s homes are really unique. The Pomo used tule reeds for marshy areas for the homes in Clear Lake. They bundle up the tule then tied them to poles. The homes were in an oval shaped. They had fire places on it. The homes near the Russian River were made the same way as the Clear Lake homes but made out of grass and brush. The Coastal homes were made cone shaped homes. They covered the poles with redwood bark.

  4. Food Do you know what the Pomo ate? The Pomo ate acorns, fish, seeds, nuts, berries, deer and rabbits. They also eat elk, grass, and boas and mashed acorns into mush. They go underwater to hunt for fish. They set seeds, nuts, berries, and acorns. They caught their food by tying 3 strings together and tying rocks at each end. Then they threw this at the animals to trap them.

  5. Jobs Do you know what the Pomo’s jobs are?The Pomo men hunted and fished and made tools and axes also wove baby carriers. The Elders hunted, fished, and raised grand children. They watch children when the parents were busy. The women gathered berries, nuts, and other plants. Also they made clothing and baskets. And wove cloth from willow redwood.

  6. Clothing Do you know what the Pomo wear? The Pomo women made clothing from natural materials. They wore long skirts that hung down to their ankles. They wore hand woven mantles that tied to their neck. The men were often naked or wore kits. They also wore moccasins which are shoes. The boys were often naked. Both men and women wore rabbit fur when it was cold.

  7. Celebrations What celebrations did the Pomo have?The Pomo were part of the Pomo ceremonies. They danced. They played music with flutes, whistles, clapper sticks, rattles, and drums. They wore colorful clothing.

  8. Religion What did the Pomo believe?The Pomo believed many spirits.

  9. The Pomo The Pomo are a unique Native American Tribe. I only hope that they keep growing and stay alive.
