Purpose of the CNS Collecting and raising awareness about the achievements of NRNs Benchmarking Identification of useful NRN activities/examples across Europe Regular and systematic tracking of the progress within a separate NRN • New added value: helping NSUs in the monitoring process by creating links between indicative links between the CNS and the mandatory indicators reported by NRNs

CNS collection: State of Play For years 2014 and 2015 Data collection launched in June 2016 So far 17 responses out of 31 NSUs/NRNs (55% response rate): => 15 CNS responses further analyzed Austria Belgium- Flanders Czech Republic Estonia Germany Greece* Hungary Latvia Lithuania Malta Netherlands** Poland Portugal Scotland Slovakia Sweden UK-Wales *no data/ **analysis in progress

General finding Limited number of NRNs` activities funded from the 2014-20 EAFRD budget in 2014 and 2015. • Activities realized in 2014 and 2015 funded still from 2007-13 budget, only marginal spending from 2014-20 budget • NRNs started to operate from 2014-20 funding mostly during 2015 • In some cases overlap of 2007-13 and 2014-20 funding (e.g. Hungary) or no spending from 2014-20 funding (Greece)

  13. II. Communication tools Publications: magazines, reviews, newsletters, leaflets, and e-publications number of publications 9x higher in 2015 (716) than in 2014 (78) In 2015 highest numbers of publications reported in Latvia (465), Estonia (74), Poland (72)

Communication tools Multi-media & other communication tools: 310 films/videos & radio/TV broadcasts produced in 2015, Mostly in Poland (141) and Latvia (92) in 2015 Swedish NRN reported 17 outputs in 2014 and 33 outputs in 2015 available online at www.youtube.com/landsbygdsnatverket 9 competitions/awards (e.g. photo-competition; best LEADER project competition, etc.) organized in 2015 253 other communication tools such as: articles, advertisements, promotional materials (including gadgets, pendrives, pens, honey jars), roll ups, exhibition wall, information board, Smartfon Mobile application e.g. Welcome to Polish village www.ksow.pl

Good practices Good practice examples/case studies both collected and disseminated The overall number increased 7xfrom 66 (2014) to 469 (2015) The higher numbers in 2015 reported in Estonia(131) and Germany (90) Thematic focus mostly on LEADER/CLLD & LAGs (included cooperation) (P6) Reported examples of specific topics: aromatic and medicinal plants, rural heritage, village recovery, young rural entrepreneur, short supply chains , map of wine regions, Returnees - an issue for rural areas, female rural entrepreneurs.

Thematic and analytical exchanges • Thematic groups and meetings • Counted separately (e.g. group on rural youth with 4 meetings/year) • Topics: LEADER/CLLD&LAGs, innovations, RDP implementation, evaluation, demographic change • Consultations • Organized exchanges organized/facilitated by the NSU/NRN (e.g. LEADER coordination groups) • Topics: new RDP 14-20, EIP, specific measures, LEADER/CLLD&LAGs • Highest numbers in Belgium (19) and Hungary (11) Other initiatives Including thematic research, web-forums & training Topics: LEADER/CLLD&LAGs, local agricultural producers, rural youth entrepreneurship, Herbivorous project, IT tools

Cooperation, ENRD & EIP activities In 2015, altogether 40 articles, good practice examples/case studies and other information items were provided to ENRD CP and EIP-AGRI Service Point Majority was provided by Estonian NRN (26) In 2015, in total 32ENRD CP & Helpdesk or EIP-AGRI information items were translated and 93 items disseminated by NRNs to their wider membership The translation and dissemination is done in Estonia (24 transl., 78 dissem.), Portugal (8 transl. and dissem.), Wales (6 dissem.) and Malta (1 dissem.)

  21. V. Cooperation, ENRD & EIP activities … Evaluating our performance: 74 out of 123 events/initiatives in total in 2015 are ENRD CP (60%) 69 out of 93 translated/disseminated item in total in 2015 are ENRD CP (60%)

Capacity building and training In 2015, altogether 509 training activities organized by the NSU/NRN, with 14 312 participants: Workshops/trainings – in total 416, 10 370 participants Field visits/ study trips – in total 82, 2 927 participants Other activities - in total 12, 1 015 participants Topics: RDP 2014-2020, use of rural resources and farms in education, activities of rural female organizations, social economy, use of sport and sport infrastructure in local development, rural entrepreneurship, public procurement, CORELDRAW programme skills
