  1. High Ability Newsletter We are working hard preparing for our future. We strive for the Pass+ levels in ISTEP. We constantly are being challenged with critical thinking skills. We not only look at current grade content levels but also at the grade levels following the grade we are in. All High Ability students have been working on taking Reading Counts quizzes twice each 9 week grading period. The book must be at least at the student’s lexile. The next quiz must be completed and passed by October 20th. Word count levels are as follows: 6th 100,000 5th 80,000 4th 60,000 3rd 40,000 2nd 2 books We have a February 17thdue date for reading assignments: 6th- Tall tale, fairy tale, folktale 5th Favorite book character 4th Biography dress up 3rd Favorite book character We are currently reassuring that we know the current Indiana State academic standards for each of the grade levels. We will continue working on logic problems, improving reading comprehension, and vocabulary. There will be no High Ability classes during ISTEP testing. All students just finished NWEA testing in their homerooms.
