Reasons Scripture Gives for this Subjection • The man was first formed. “Adam was first formed, then Eve” (1 Timothy 2:13). • The man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man (1 Corinthians 11:9). • The woman was first in transgression. “Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression” (1 Timothy 2:14). • It is God’s way of causing the husband to grow spiritually (1 Pet 3:1). • She is in a dependent position as the “weaker vessel” (1 Pet. 3:7).

HINDRANCES • Being foolish, “Every wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands (Prov. 14:1). • Being clamorous, “The foolish woman is clamor- ous; She is simple, and knoweth nothing” (Prov. 9:13), • Being contentious, “It is better to dwell in a desert land, Than with a contentious and fretful woman” (Prov. 21:19). • Being odious, “For three things the earth doth tremble, And for four, which it cannot bear: For a servant when he is king; And a fool when he is filled with food; For an odious woman when she is married” (Prov. 30:21-23).
