  10. CHEA 10 A NATIONAL ADVOCATE AND INSTITUTIONAL VOICE FOR SELF-REGULATION OF ACADEMIC QUALITY THROUGH ACCREDITATION, CHEA IS AN ASSOCIATION OF 3,000 DEGREE-GRANTING COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND RECOGNIZES 60 INSTITUTIONAL AND PROGRAMMATIC ACCREDITING ORGANIZATIONS. Dr. Judy C. Miner

  11. CHEA 11 Recognition The scrutiny and certification of the quality of regional, faith-based, private career and programmatic accrediting organizations. CHEA is the only nongovernmental higher education organization that undertakes this scrutiny. The federal government, through the U.S. Department of Education, conducts governmental recognition reviews. Dr. Judy C. Miner

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 14 THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON INSTITUTIONAL QUALITY AND INTEGRITY (NACIQI) ADVISES THE SECRETARY OF EDUCATION ON MATTERS RELATED TO ACCREDITATION AND TO THE ELIGIBILITY AND CERTIFICATION PROCESS FOR INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION PURSUANT TO THE HIGHER EDUCATION ACT (HEA). ACCJC 21 INTRODUCTION TO THE ACCREDITATION STANDARDS SHAPING THE DIALOGUE “THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF AN ACCJC-ACCREDITED INSTITUTION IS TO FOSTER LEARNING IN ITS STUDENTS….AN EFFECTIVE INSTITUTION MAINTAINS AN ONGOING, SELF-REFLECTIVE DIALOGUE ABOUT ITS QUALITY AND IMPROVEMENT.” Dr. Judy C.
