Look for puckering, changes in shape or size, and dimpling in the breasts. •The nipples should also not be inverted. •Press your hands down on your hips and then check the breasts for any changes •Raise your arms overhead and pressing your palms together inspect your breasts •It is also important that the ridges across the bottom of the breasts are symmetrical when you lift the breasts The next thing to do is inspect your breasts with your hands Use the pads of the three middle fingers to feel your breasts. The second part of the exam is to use different levels of pressure. Use light pressure to feel the tissue close to the skin. A little more pressure to feel a little deeper and firm pressure so that you can feel the tissue closest to the chest. When you should talk to your doctor for a mammogram screening •If you find a hard lump near your underarms •If there is thickening or prominent fullness which is different from the surrounding tissue. •If there are any dimples, puckering bulges, or ridges •Redness, swelling, and pain or warmth •Scales, itching, rashes, or sores •Bloody discharge from the nipples These symptoms mean that you may have breast cancer and you should immediately consult your doctor to ensure that your breast cancer is diagnosed at the beginning itself.
