The GEONETCast Team collaborates with the GEOSS Data Discovery and Access Broker (DAB) to enhance the search and retrieval of GEOSS resources offline through GEONETCast channels. A prototype was showcased at GEO-X, with ongoing developments focused on finalizing software applications and establishing a routine database flow between GEO-DAB and GEONETCast Network Centres (GNCs). Meanwhile, the GEONETCast Disaster Channel, driven by partners, aims to distribute critical alert data, primarily for hazards like volcanic ash and wildfires, enhancing user training and awareness.

Ongoing evolutions: GEO-DAB
Ongoing evolutions: GEO-DAB • GEONETCast Team has teamed up with GEOSS Data Discovery and Access Broker (DAB) to allow search and discovery of GEOSS resources in off-line mode on GEONETCast channels • GEO DAB will be transmitted along with a client application and database • Updates will be sent periodically
Ongoing evolutions: GEO-DAB • Prototype demonstrated at the GEONETCast booth during GEO-X • Next steps: • CNR to finalise their application software • Implementation of a routine flow of database contents between GEO-DAB and GEONETCast Network Centres (GNCs) • Start of pilot service with one or more GNCs.
Ongoing evolutions: International Charter ‘Space & Major Disasters’
Ongoing evolutions: GEONETCast Disaster Channel • Operated by GEONETCast partners to distribute ‘alert’ type data • In EUMETSAT’s case, this is products in CAP format • Currently, Volcanic Ash and Wildfires – product is only generated if there is an alert.
Ongoing evolutions: Charter Product Dissemination • Further develop the ‘Disaster Channel’ concept by routinely distributing a subset of what is currently available on the Charter web-site • This would include historical and running Charter activations • Purpose would be to familiarise Users, train Users, and the promote the Charter within the GEONETCast User community.
Ongoing evolutions: • Order content per activation type & chronological order • Content transmitted on a regular basis (daily) • User notification via Twitter & UNS
Ongoing evolutions: • Had good resonance on this concept from GIS community in Africa • Next step would be to investigate ways of interfacing with the Charter web-site • And develop a technical concept
