  2. February 2, 1996Moses Lake,Washington • 14 year old suspect opened fire on a junior high school algebra class. • 2 students and 1 teacher killed • 1 student wounded

  3. March 13, 1996Dunblane, Scotland • Male suspect enters elementary school through an open back door, with 2 handguns and a rifle. Over 100 rounds are fired at the victims in 2 minutes. • 16 students and 1 teacher killed

  4. October 1,1997Pearl, Mississippi • 16 year old suspect stabbed his mother to death prior to going to high school with a 30/30 rifle. • 2 students killed • 7 students wounded

  5. December 1,1997West Paducah, Kentucky • 14 year old suspect enters school site with numerous weapons and opens fire on students while they were praying. • 3 students killed • 5 students wounded

  6. March 24, 1998Jonesboro, Arkansas • 11 and 13 year old suspects activated a fire alarm and shot students as they exited the school. • 4 students and 1 teacher killed • 10 students wounded

  7. April 25,1998Edinboro, Pennsylvania • 14 year old suspect opened fire at a middle school dance. • 1 teacher killed • 2 students and 1 teacher wounded

  8. May 19, 1998Fayetteville,Tennessee • 18 year old high school honor student shoots another student while on campus. • 1 student killed

  9. May 21, 1998Springfield,Oregon • 15 year old suspect murdered his parents the night before he went to school and opened fire in the school cafeteria. • 2 students killed • 22 students wounded

  10. April 20,1999Littleton, Colorado • 17 and 18 year old suspects enter high school with numerous weapons and explosives. • 12 students and 1 teacher killed • 23 students wounded

  11. April 23, 1999Baton Rouge, Louisiana • 14 year old suspect shoots but misses intended target, striking another student. • 1 student wounded

  12. April 28, 1999Alberta, Canada • 14 year old suspect opens fire at school. • 1 student killed • 1 student wounded

  13. May 20, 1999Conyers, Georgia • 15 year old suspect opens fire at high school. • 6 students injured

  14. December 6, 1999Fort Gibson, Oklahoma • 13 year old opens fire at a middle school using a 9 mm handgun. • 4 students wounded

  15. February 29, 2000Mt. Morris Township, Michigan • 6 year old first grader shoots and kills a fellow student after telling her,”I hate you.” • 1 child killed

  16. First Aid • All staff needs to be up to date • Gunshot wounds • Broken bones • Severe lacerations

  17. School Site Response • Recognize a threat • Move away from the threat • Report the situation • Site’s main office sounds alarm • Staff Secures School, lock down • Duck, cover and hold in the safest place possible

  18. Call 911 • Provide School site name and location • Suspect description, D.O.T. • How many shots have been fired • Location on campus • Hostage situation, victims • Obey the police, everyone may be treated as a suspect

  19. Binders are made available to police • Site representative meets and briefs police • Command post established • Master keys obtained

  20. If possible, evacuate students to off-site evacuation location • Take roll • Establish student/staff tracking station • Remain at location until departure is authorized • Provide police with as much detailed information as possible
