  6. God’s training reminders 1. What matters is not so much the events or circumstances of life, but our responses to them. (Psalm 118:6-8)

  7. 6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? 7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies. 8It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans. Psalm 118:6-8

  8. 2. God will give us strength to endure our painful circumstances (Isaiah 40:29-31)

  9. 28Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak. .

  10. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint Isaiah 40:28-31

  11. 3. When God is all you have, God is enough (1 Peter 5:7,10).

  12. 7 Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you 10God always gives you all the grace you need. So you will only have to suffer for a little while. Then God himself will build you up again. He will make you strong and steady. And he has chosen you to share in his eternal glory because you belong to Christ. 1 Peter 5:7,10 NIRV

  13. 4. Don’t see your struggles as an interruption to life but as preparation for life. Hebrews 12:8,10 MSG

  14. God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God’s training so we can truly live?

  15. While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best. At the time, discipline isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God. Hebrews 12:7-11 (the Message)

  16. God has decreed a “family reunion” “16 The Master himself will give the command. Archangel thunder! God's trumpet blast! He'll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise - they'll go first. 17 Then the rest of us who are still alive at the time will be caught up with them into the clouds to meet the Master. 18 Oh, we'll be walking on air! And then there will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (MSG)

  17. 5. With God’s help any situation can be used for good, even when others intend it for evil. (Gen 50:20).

  18. 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20

  19. Remember, God is at work in each of us, whether we know it or not, whether we want it or not. When God gets in the middle of life, evil becomes good.
