12. 12 GIS: Geographic Information System (Under Development) State-of-the-art method of organizing and accessing critical information that can show multiple data sets on one map instantly. It is the new standard for investment attraction tools and will put Ontario out in front of many of its competitors.
MEDT has undertaken a needs assessment with a consultant, which is now almost complete.
A number of stakeholders were consulted for the needs assessment and stakeholder consultations will continue as we move forward with system development.
As we proceed with development, we will be looking to our regional partners for data inputs, especially around industrial land availability.
13. 13 GIS Why GIS for communities that already have a system?:
Many site selectors when undertaking preliminary research, will research Ontario as opposed to individual locations within the Province
Wider exposure, capitalize on the Ontario brand
Ontario may have information on our system that individual communities do not and can capitalize on.
Final system capabilities and details like links to community sites, etc. Are all tbc and will be developed after consultations with regional partners.
