Peer Editing and Revising • Read your essay quietly to yourself one time. • Read your essay aloud to your desk partner and actively listen to your desk partner read his or hers to you. • Pass your essay back and look over the essay of the person in front of you. Essays at the back of the row go to the front. • Make sure that the essay is complete and thorough (all 8 paragraphs complete). If it is, sign at the end of the last page. If it is not complete, list what’s missing. • After you check for completion, read this essay and make two suggestions for improvement below your signature. • Pass the essays back again. Read this person’s essay carefully and make comments and suggestions throughout. At the end of the essay, give one strength and one area for improvement. Sign it. • Get your essay back and begin looking at the suggestions and improving your work before you hand it in by the end of the period.
