  2. Brief Introduction Switzerland is a small country that lies in the centre of Europe. It‘s surrounded by four countries, France to the west, Italy to the south, Austria to the east and Germany to the north. It’s about the same size as Holland. Bern(伯尼尔), the capital city, lies in the centre of Switzerland. Other important cities are Zurich(苏黎世), Geneva(日内瓦) and Basel(巴塞尔)

  3. Switzerland has a mild climate, while the north is winter, it snows quite a lot. The warmest months are July to August, the coldest months are January to February. Switzerland has a very beautiful nature landscape with snowy hills and mountains. The Leukerbad is famous for an area of hot spring, some of which throw out hot water high into the air, some of this heat near the earth‘s surface is used to make electricity. There are also some lakes and glaciers(冰川). The most famous lake is Rhine River(莱茵河),there are many colorful flowers and trees by the river.

  4. Switzerland has a population of about 7.4 million people. The majority of the people speak German and French, but all street signs, names of cities and places must be written in English. Switzerland is not just a agriculture, but also a industrial country, with cow farming around the country, while the hilly mountain has more sheep farms. So the farmers, shops can give the delicious food, like cheese, coffee and chocolate. Swiss people are good at making watches and there are many famous watch brands, such as Patek Philippe, Piaget, Rolex and so on. It's sure that Switzerland watch is of high quality and is sold all over the world.

  5. Living in a country with plenty of attractive landscape and a good climate, Swiss people love outdoor activities. In summer, people like to go hiking, horse-riding and rock- climbing in the mountain. Many families spend their time at a cottage or going camping in the hill. Its natural beauty, mountains, rivers and national parks, also attract tourists from all over the world.

  7. chocolate • Chocolate had been made in Switzerland since the 18th century but it gained its reputation at the end of the 19th century with the invention of modern techniques such as conching(混合搅拌) and tempering(回火) which enabled its production on a high quality level. A breakthrough was the invention of milk chocolate in 1875 . • Chocolate has become one of the most popular flavors in the world. Gifts of chocolate molded into different shapes have become traditional on certain holidays: chocolate bunnies and eggs are popular on Easter, chocolate coins on Hanukkah(光明节), Santa Claus and other holiday symbols on Christmas, and hearts on Valentine‘s Day(情人节)。

  9. Swiss Army knife(SAK) • A Swiss Army knife, is a brand of multi-function pocket knife or multi-tool. Generally speaking, a Swiss Army knife has a blade as well as various tools, such as screwdrivers(螺丝刀) and can openers. These attachments(附属装置) are stowed inside the handle of the knife through a pivot point mechanism. • It originated in Switzerland in 1897. The term "Swiss Army" is a registered trademark owned by Wenger S.A. and Victorinox A.G., longtime suppliers of knives to the Swiss Armed Forces.

Cheese fondue • fondue is made of cheese melted in wine for dipping bread and sometimes fruits • Fondue is a Swiss communal dish shared at the table in an earthenware pot over a small burner . • Diners use forks to dip bits of food (often bread) into the warm semi-liquid sauce ( a cheese mix). Heat is supplied by a wicked or gel alcohol burner, or a tealight(小蜡烛).
