In 1 Kings 19:19-21, we witness the remarkable story of Elisha's call to serve alongside the prophet Elijah. While plowing a field, Elisha is approached by Elijah, who symbolically passes his cloak over him, marking the beginning of a profound commitment to God's service. Elisha's immediate reaction, bidding farewell to his family and sacrificing his oxen, demonstrates the depth of his dedication. This passage not only highlights Elisha's willingness to leave behind his former life but also emphasizes the importance of being active and obedient in responding to God's calling.
