Activity: “Recognizing & Substantiating a Theme”Part 2: Groupwork (PERIOD 5) • Find a friend with whom to work • Agree upon a theme/topic • REVISE your theme/topic until it’s a sentence that tells about the message of Chapter 3 • Get your theme statement approved by HB or Ms Lynch • Find & copy evidence (approx 3 quotations) from chapter 3 that SUBSTANTIATES your theme statement TIME: 10 minutes
