Environmental AssessmentÉvaluation de l`environnement • Environmental Assessments (EAs) promote good environmental planning by assessing potential impacts and identifying mitigation measures early in the planning process. Les évaluations de l`environnement (ÉEs) encouragent la bonne planification de l`environnement en évaluant les impacts potentiels et les mesures d`atténuation identifiées au plus tôt du processus de planification. • “Environment” includes natural, cultural heritage, and socio-economic environments. ‘environnement ’ inclue les environnements de patrimoine naturel, culturel et socio-économique.

  2. EA: Federal ProcessÉE:Processus fédéral • The Fort Henry Visitor Centre does not require an EA under federal legislation. Le centre pour visiteurs à Fort Henry n`a pas besoin d`un ÉE sous la loi fédérale. • However, Parks Canada must conduct an EA if the project may cause adverse environmental effects as outlined in Parks Canada's Management Directive 2.4.2 on Impact Assessment. Cependant, Parcs Canada doit conduire un ÉE si le projet a le potentiel de causer des effets adverses sur l`environement, tel que défini dans son directif de gestion 2.4.2 sur l`évaluation d`impact. • Therefore, a federal EA will be conducted for the construction of the Visitor Centre at Fort Henry.   3. EA: Provincial ProcessÉE: Processus provincial • All public works and real estate activities of the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure are subject to a Class EA. Tous les travaux publics et activités immobilières du Ministère de l`infrastructure de l`Ontario sont sujets à un Énoncé sur l`environement (ÉE) classé. • A Class EA is an approved document that defines and categorizes common activities and sets out appropriate assessment processes. Un ÉE classé est un document approuvé qui défini et catégorise les activités communes et décrit le processus d`évaluation approprié. • A Category B Class EA will be undertaken for the construction of the Visitor’s Centre at Fort Henry. Une catégorie B d`ÉE classé sera entreprise pour la construction du centre pour visiteurs à Fort Henry.

EA: General Process 1/3 ÉE: Processus général The federal and provincial EAs will consider: • site preparation and landscaping; • construction of a building and related infrastructure works; • demolition and remediation (if required). • Les ÉEs fédéraux et provinciaux vont considérer : • La préparation du site et le paysage; • Construction d`un bâtiment et ses travaux d`infrastructure; • Atténuation correctif de toute démolition (si nécessaire).

EA: General Process 2/3 ÉE: Processus général The federal and provincial EAs will require: • information gathering and consultation; • assessment and documentation of potential impacts and related mitigation measures. • Les ÉE fédéraux et provinciaux vont demander : • Consultation et rassemblement d`information; • Évaluation et documentation des impacts potentiels et mesures d`atténuation.

EA: General Process 3/3 ÉE: Processus général The provincial Class EA process will also require the: • issuance of a Notice of Completion; • posting of the completed EA on the ORC’s public website. • Le processus d`ÉE classé provincial va aussi demander : • L`émission d`une notice d`achèvement; • L`affichage de l`ÉE complété sur le site web de la Société immobilière de l`Ontario.
