  1. Self assessment iIt is not mandatory to complete the online self assessment as it does not form part of the visa application. However, we recommend that you complete this section as it can help you calculate the amount of money you will need to show in your visa application.

  2. iYou should select Tier 4 (General) even if you are aged 16 or 17.

  3. iThe term current leave means that a visa is still valid. If you have a Tier 4 visa, either issued from inside the UK or from overseas and it has not expired, select ‘Yes’ on this page. If you hold any other visa type, or if your leave has expired, select ‘No’.

  4. iEnter the date of application for your first successful Tier 4 visa application (ie. the first time you were granted leave under Tier 4) as per the UKBA guidance below. This may not refer to you current Tier 4 visa if you have made multiple Tier 4 applications . If you answered ‘No’ to the previous question, you will not be asked for this information.

  5. iSelect ‘Yes’ if you are applying to extend your Tier 4 visa because you require further time on your current programme or if you are joining Warwick having completed a previous course of study while on a Tier 4 visa.

  6. iThe start and end dates of your course will be stated on your CAS.

  7. iThis question refers to the total duration of your current course of study. The UKBA will look at this information to establish the length of your course and ensure that you are granted the appropriate amount of leave.

  8. iThe University of Warwick is situated in Coventry, which is outside London, so you should select the second option.

  9. iIf you are a starting on a new course of study at Warwick you will only be assigned a CAS once you have met all the conditions of your offer and responded to the CAS email sent by the Admissions team. If you are a continuing Warwick student, then your CAS will be assigned once the Immigration Service has seen and approved your supportingdocuments.

  10. iThe funds (or maintenance) which you are required to show in your application is determined by whether or not you have an established presence . You must provide financial evidence that you can meet this maintenance requirement plus any money you owe for tuition fees in order for your visa application to be successful. Depending on the answers you gave to the previous questions, you will see either one of the following messages: iStudent with an established presence  iStudent without an established presence 

  11. iThe results of this tool show your possible points score should you want to apply; it does notguarantee a successful visa application. The UKBA make a decision once they receive your full application and supporting evidence. If you do not score the required 40 points, then you should consider what attributes are missing. Do you have a valid CAS, for example?
