  3. Breakout Session Questions(copies in your packet) What NASA Terra/Aqua/Aura satellite data sets, or products derived from NASA satellite observations, are you currently using? What are the current applications and / or science questions that you are addressing with NASA Terra/Aqua/Aura satellite data? What data sets from the Suomi-NPP suite of instruments have potential value in your science or applications tasks? What higher level data products from Suomi-NPP data sets would be helpful in your science or applications tasks? (Include the characteristics of the product and other requirements, e.g. resolution, accuracy, data latency, data format.) What are the three most important data products?   4. Breakout Session Questions(continued) Who are your key partners or end user organizations on tasks, projects, or processes that use NASA satellite data? On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most important): How important is data continuity from Terra/Aqua/Aura data products to their counterparts on Suomi-NPP? Is data continuity a concern to your partners? Data access: a) How do you currently access NASA satellite-based data sets and data products? b) How would you like to access data and data products from Suomi-NPP observations? What are the biggest impediments limiting your use of NASA satellite data and data products? After completing their responses to the breakout session questions, each breakout group should list the 3-5 highest priority data products needed to maintain data continuity and to support needs in the user community. The products should be linked to specific applications. • Summary tables are provided for use by the chairs to assist in organizing responses to the breakout session questions. Use of the summary table templates is optional, and chairs are welcome to modify or replace these tables. • Chairs will report out on their session findings tomorrow beginning at 10:45 AM

Definitions for our purposes in Breakout • Data Set: Data from any of the Suomi-NPP instruments that have not been processed beyond “level 1”, i.e., the minimum level of processing to make the data useable, either by itself or as input to higher level products. • Product or Data product: Image or non-image data generated, entirely or partially, by applying a processing algorithm to a Suomi-NPP data set. • Data Continuity: the ability to use data sets or data products from Suomi-NPP instruments in applications and as replacements for NASA Terra and Aqua data sets and data products currently used in those applications.
