McCarthyism Results 1950 – claimed to have a list of 250 Communists working in the State Department Waldorf statement –Hollywood Ten Loyalty review boards Misleading trials of otherwise innocent people Ingredients: • Red Scare – fear of Stalin and Communism • HUAC- 1946 • Alger Hiss case – 1948 • Federal Loyalty Program- McCarran Internal Security Act • Rosenberg Case – early 1950, executed 1953 • + Charismatic leader

Board of Education of the City of New York – Teachers can be held accountable for their past actions because they influence their student in their classroom. • HUAC –Blacklists (Many impacted)
