  2. Purpose • The purpose of the Biodiesel Survey is to find out what and how much the general public at the University of Florida knows about biodiesel

  3. Questions • I will ask 300 students their age, gender, ethnicity, major, and year in school to create a profile of what the average student knows

  4. Questions • Do you know what biodiesel is? • This question is important to figure out how many people know about biodiesel. • Is biodiesel a viable alternative fuel? • Even if people have heard about biodiesel, they may not know what it is or what it does.

  5. Questions • Would you ever consider making biodiesel yourself? • I believe it is important for people to realize that they can make biodiesel themselves, but they may not know that they can. • Do you need to convert a car to be able to run on biodiesel? • People who do know about biodiesel generally think that you need to make alterations to your car in order to use it, which is not true.

  6. Questions • Would you consider buying a diesel car for the purpose of using biodiesel? • It is important to know how many people would be willing to make changes for the well-being of the environment. • If UF’s vehicle fleet ran on biodiesel, would you be willing to increase your tuition cost to fund it? • Even though it is better for the environment, people need to be willing to pay for alternative fuel to make a different.

  7. Questions • Do you think that UF should become more sustainable, even if it costs more? • UF would be able to make an impact, but it would require tuition prices to increase. • Would you pay extra for renewable energy? • People need to be willing to put forth the initial cost in order to start making changes now.

  8. Questions • Should campus buses run on biofuel? • Currently, the UF fleet runs on mainly gasoline vehicles and some diesel. • Can you run ethanol in your gasoline car? • Many do not know that you can, and UF will start dispensing an E-85 Ethanol fuel later this year.

  9. Questions • Is it beneficial to run a car using ethanol? • Yes, but most people are unaware that you can even use it in their cars. • Is it safe to mix different fuel for your car? • Yes, but the amounts have an effect on how your car will run.

  10. Questions • Do you think that oil will deplete in your future? • It is important for people to realize that we need to stop depending on oil. • Should there be a gradual switch to alternative energy? • In order to make the transition easier, it should be done gradually. • Should vehicles run on natural gas? • It is important to know what people think.
