  9. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Electrical Connections Electrical Connections can be a major source of No Apparent defects and (NAD) and Operation Normal service calls. Poor electrical connections can cause intermittent problems leading to misdiagnosis and repeat service calls. It is always a good idea to rule this out prior to diagnosing any major problems. • Always ensure electrical connectors are fully inserted and latched at both ends of a circuit. • Remove the connector and check to ensure the wires are properly crimped and seated in the terminal. Any loose wires in the crimp could cause intermittent problems. • Reconnect the connector at both ends and make sure it is fully latched. Replace harness if loose wires exist. • Look at terminals (both male and female) for evidence of burn marks. If burn marks are present, there is a good possibility a loose connection exists.

  10. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Water Valve Service Mode: “DELICATES & HEAVY SOIL”, Displays “00”( *Hidden & Heavy soil for Crosley) Press “RINSE”, Displays “ot” (Oh Tee, output test mode) Press “COTTON STURDY”, hot water should be dispensing (“Normal” for Crosley) Press “WRINKLE FREE”, cold water should be dispensing Press “DELICATES”, water should be dispensing into bleach cup (*Hidden Key for Crosley) (Note: cold or hot water valve must be toggled on for bleach water to dispense) Press, “HAND WASH”, water should be dispensing into softener cup (Note: cold or hot water valve must be toggled on for softener water to dispense) Press, “COTTON STURDY, WRINKLE FREE, DELICATES, HAND WASH” to toggle off all the valves Press, “PRESOAK”, pump will turn on to drain the tub, press again to toggle off once water is removed. Press, “OFF” twice to exit the output test mode.  If valve does not work Check electrical connectionson valve and board outputs to valve. Check pressure switch using board Input Test. If sensing a high level, valve will not turn on. Check to see if there is water in the tub. Drain water performing the pump output test. Check door lock sense circuit.

  11. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Membrane Pad Service Mode: “DELICATES & HEAVY SOIL”, Displays “00” Press “WRINKLE FREE”, Displays “OU.” Press each button once, sequencing from left to right. All the embedded LED’s should light up except wrinkle free. The “U” will alternate as buttons are pressed. After all buttons have been pressed, the Estimated time display will display, “PA” if there are no issues with the membrane switch pad. Note: If there is at any time 5 seconds of inactivity, the test will exit. If other diagnosis needed, remain in Service Mode and press back button at top of slide to proceed with further diagnostics or…. Press, “OFF” twice to exit the input test mode. Note: This test is for MAH5500, MAH6500. The MAH55FL does not have a signal button and will not pass the membrane switch pad check.

  12. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Door Lock Service Mode: “DELICATES & HEAVY SOIL”, Displays “00” ( *Hidden & Heavy soil for Crosley) Press “RINSE”, Displays “ot” (Oh Tee, output test mode) Press “MAX EXTRACT”, control sends an lock pulse every second for 10 seconds. Press “MAX EXTRACT” again, control stops sending a lock pulse Press “Extra Rinse”, control sends an unlock pulse every second for 10 seconds Press “Extra Rinse” again, control stops sending an unlock pulse If fails to lock, open unit and check for loose electrical connections at the door lock and machine control. Check for proper outputs from the machine control board If other diagnosis needed, remain in Service Mode and press back button at top of slide to proceed with further diagnostics or…. Press, “OFF” twice to exit the output test mode.

If displays “uI” a Service Call is required. If other diagnosis needed, remain in Service Mode and press back button at top of slide to proceed with further diagnostics or…. Press, “OFF” twice to exit the input test mode.

  15. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Motor / Controller • The removal of the front panel is required. • Unplug the wash machine • Remove front panel and pull the JP4 connector from the motor control board. • Reconnect the washer power cord to supply voltage. Make sure the door is closed. • Access Service Modeand Output test. • Lock the door by pressing “max extract”. • Press “Stain Cycle” to start the test. 120VAC is sent to the motor controller and the spinner should rotate at 50 RPM until the test is stopped. • For Crosley, Select “SPIN” and press “Start/Pause”; ignore steps 4, 5, 6 If motor does not Run If motor does Run

  16. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Motor / Controller • Motor Does Not Run, turning the spinner • Check the voltage input at the motor control harness. • If there is power to the motor controller • Check all wire connections • Check resistance across phase windings of the motor at the motor harness cable shown in diagram below. • If phase windings are in specification, replace the motor controller • If there is no power to the motor controller • Check loose electrical connections at machine control board or broken wires in harness. • Check door actuator switch and related wiring. Motor Phase windings

  17. Component Trouble shooting MAIN NEXT CONSUMER COMPLAINT TROUBLE SHOOTING LAST PREV Motor / Controller • Motor Does Run, but either does not turn spinner at 50rpm or runs intermittently during regular wash cycle • Disconnect JP4 connector from Machine control and motor control and check resistance of Signal Common , Tach and Torque wires of the JP4 at the motor control and machine control. See Machine Schematic for wiring details. Replace harness if no continuity. • Check Diagnostic Codes. Look for 06,16,24,25 codes and respond according to recommendations on the specific diagnostic codes. • Still not operating properly, it is necessary to check signal at the following places during the quick service cycle test,: • Output of Signal Common at Machine Control, then compare to Input at Signal Common on Motor Control. Replace the component that does not have the signal. • Output of Torque PWM at Machine Control, then compare to Input at Torque PWM on Motor Control. Replace the component that does not have the signal. • Input of Tach on Machine Board to Output of Motor Control at Tach on Motor Control. • It is possible to check the signal with a Voltmeter that can measure frequency or peak voltage fast enough, although a Oscilloscope is better. After doing the above tests replace the component has does not receive the signal.
