The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is committed to ensuring accountability in ARRA-funded projects. Led by National Director John W. Long, our proactive investigative plan includes outreach, training, and collaborative efforts with transportation partners. We have already trained over 15,000 partners to combat fraud, waste, and abuse. With more than 40 active criminal investigations, we focus on crimes such as bid-rigging and DBE fraud. Our hotline is available 24/7 for anyone to report suspicious activities related to ARRA funding.

Proactive Investigative Activities • Previously we have been a reactive agency…for ARRA funded projects, we are much more proactive. • Investigators are contacting project managers, inspectors, procurement managers, audit, and claims personnel.
Proactive Activities • Criminal checks and Suspension and Debarment checks on prime contractors, subcontractors, and DBEs. • Reviewing Bidding Documents. • Reviewing Certified Payrolls. • Checking Certification and Net Worth Status on DBEs. • Reviewing change orders, supplemental agreements, and claims.
