The Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership The Level 5 qualifications in Management & Leadership are designed for practising middle managers who wish to develop their core management skills and practices. These qualifications focus on the personal development of the individual learner’s management capabilities and competencies. The Diploma in Management & Leadership is a comprehensive qualification providing you with the key management skills to enable you to operate effectively as a middle manager. It allows you to develop a range of competencies from operational management principles and practices to the development of resource control and use. The Diploma in Management & Leadership is recognised by the Chartered Management Institute as the benchmark qualification for full membership of the Institute and enables you to progress towards Chartered Manager status. CMI qualifications are derived from the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership and are accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

CMI relationship with LSE/ICL • The next programme will be the 11th cohort taking Level 5 • Our ‘track record’ with LSE/ICL is >90% completion (national average is 85%) due to the quality of candidates, consistency of course leader, and the array of support available and given by the course leader and the LSE/ICL L&D teams. • The course leader, Tim Fuller, has been working with LSE/ICL since 2006 and understands the universities’ respective businesses • By enrolling for this programme you will have free student membership of the Institute, which will include gaining access to Management Direct, CMI’s interactive multi-media learning environment, as well as access to the Management Information Centre, the biggest library of it’s kind in Europe.

Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership Programme Structure • The programme comprises: • a one day induction workshop • eight modules of self study • a series of seven further one day workshops spaced approximately 6 weeks apart • an assessment process for each core module • an Externally Assessed Exercise (Managing Performance) • a work related project of approximately 5000 words • a learning log for each module which forms part of the assessment process
