  3. Layout • Act: • One of the main divisions of a play or Opera • Scene: • a division of a play or of an act of a play, usually representing what passes between certain of the actors in one place.

  4. Layout • Stage Directions: • 1. an instruction written into the script of a play, indicating stage actions, movements of performers, or production requirements. • Audience does not hear them—they only see them.

Layout • Monologue: • a part of a drama in which a single actor speaks alone at lengths • Soliloquy: • an utterance or discourse by a person who is talking to himself or herself or is disregardful of or oblivious to any hearers present (often used as a device in drama to disclose a character's innermost thoughts)

  6. Characters • Denoted by their name • Reader/Viewer only know what the character explicitly tell them, what can be inferred, and what is implied. • All thoughts are kept to themselves unless a Soliloquy is used. • Dialogue: a literary work in the form of a conversation
