  1. Poems of Nature

  2. I Meant To Do My Work Todayby Richard Le Gallienne I meant to do my work today,But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,And a butterfly flitted across the field,And all the leaves were calling me.  And the wind went sighing over the land,Tossing the grasses to and fro,And a rainbow held out its shining hand--So what could I do but laugh and go?

  3. Pomegranate Faceted crimson gemstones packaged tightly inside foamlike layers organized perfectly. Tough leather skin on the outside protecting the valuables inside. The time taken to coax out each seed only lends to pleasure to the end reward. Through fighting off snatching hands along the way; the result – a bowl filled to the brim with stones more beautiful than rubies.

  4. Pomegranate cont. A hand carried the treasure to the open mouth waiting to close and crush the seeds like wine grapes and let the juice trickle freely down the throat. Surely this is the food of the gods. Kellyn Bardeen

  5. Treesby Harry Behn Trees are the kindest things I know,They do no harm, they simply growAnd spread a shade for sleepy cows,And gather birds among their bows. They give us fruit in leaves above,And wood to make our houses of,And leaves to burn on HalloweenAnd in the Spring new buds of green. They are first when day's begunTo tough the beams of morning sun,They are the last to hold the lightWhen evening changes into night. And when a moon floats on the skyThey hum a drowsy lullabyOf sleepy children long ago...Trees are the kindest things I know.

  6. What do we plant?by Henry Abbey What do we plant when we plant the tree?We plant the ship, which will cross the sea.We plant the mast to carry the sails; We plant the planks to withstand the gales --The keel, the keelson, and the beam and knee;We plant the ship when we plant the tree. What do we plant when we plant the tree?We plant the houses for you and me.We plant the rafters, the shingles, the floors. We plant the studding, the lath, the doors,The beams, and siding, all parts that be;We plant the house when we plant the tree. What do we plant when we plant the tree?A thousand things that we daily see;We plant the spire that out-towers the crag,We plant the staff for our country's flag,We plant the shade, from the hot sun free;We plant all these when we plant the tree.

  7. Spiderwebs Webs sparkle on the lawn like diamond necklaces at dawn. Shiny droplets- small oases- beckon spiders to their places. Silently they look and lurk. Time now for spider work.
