  4. Think of the Red star as where LIE School is.

  5. The red shows the ancient lava beds. The lava bed in the East is from when the continental plates were pressing up against each other and creating the great mountains over 14,000 feet high. There was no Chesapeake Bay or even a Coastal Region.

  6. Think of it this way: LIE school was on the edge of the ocean! LIE School Virginia

  8. LIE School As the ocean sea level went down the coastal plain formed as the great mountains eroded from millions of years of rain and storms. The Coastal Plain is really all land fill from the mountains. The blue are great rivers across the Coastal plain

  9. About 35 million years ago a great meteorite or comet impacted the Earth near the town of todays Newport News, cracking the surface and creating a huge depression 50 miles wide. As the rives from the mountains and the ocean rushed in to fill in the depression the Chesapeake Bay was formed. LIE School

  10. Washington Canyon is one clue that the mouth of the Susquehanna River was located north of its current exit, at the southern edge of the Chesapeake Bay
