  1. Education for All Tang Bo Xuan 3O225

  2. Introduction • The right to education is a fundamental human right • Several countries ignore this human right due to traditional or religious reasons or the fear of change and equality • Those with this right taken away from them will either be too afraid give in to this or be courageous enough to insist on education and stand up to it

  3. Introduction • These people are marginalised by having a human right taken away from them and not being able to gain knowledge and break out of their poverty cycle • The country faces inequality between those who receive and do not receive education

  4. Afghanistan • Girls in Afghanistan have to be tremendously brave to attend school despite the ousting of the Taliban • They are attacked by militants when they go to school and their own parents do not support them due to traditional beliefs that girls should ‘stay at home’ • They also face constraints like the lack of facilities and teachers

  5. The lack of facilities and teachers

  6. South Sudan • Girls in South Sudan have difficulty seeking education due to South Sudan having the least gender equality in the world • Girls have to drop out of school in early age due to early marriage and pregnancy • Girls also have increasing domestic responsibilities with age, leaving no time for education

  7. A South Sudan school for girls

  8. Somalia • Girls in Somalia rarely receive education due to cultural beliefs that girls should labour at home and get married early • Extreme poverty means all funds available for education are given to boys • Girls with education drop out of school when they receive their first menstruation hits as they are not told what it is and are afraid

  9. Obstacles a young girl has to go through to receive education • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vWVNFHkFUg
