Let’s bring athletics to schools

This project aims to promote and introduce athletics to younger pupils in primary schools through activities and competitions. We visited 11 schools, held classes for fourth-grade pupils, and organized a final competition with approximately 100 participants. The project was implemented with the help of volunteers and support from Athletic Club Sarajevo.

  2. INTRODUCTION: Because in the system before this project we only had contact with older Children, while younger we do not meet until they came to older classes. Start working and animating children until 4th class in Primary schools

  3. AIMS: Presentation and promotion of athletics for youngest pupils of Primary schools.

  5. Establishing cooperation with teachers of sports

  6. Massification of athletics with the younger age categories

  7. Selecting talented children

  8. PERIOD OF PROJECT APPLICATION: - Phase I:10.-20.04.2011 - Phase II:01.05 – 05.06.2011. - Phase III:11.06.2011.

  13. activities: First phase: • Printing promotion materials, flyers, invitations and diplomas • Touring the schools, meeting with the leadership of the schools and seeking approval to hold classes of athletics in their school • Preparing schedules for visiting schools • Preparation of equipment necessary for holding classes

  14. ACTIVITIES: Second phase: A tour of the schools and holding classes of athletics in all fourth grades in all eleven school.

These parameters were achieved: • Visited 11schools • In each school the average was three classes of fourth grade pupils, in which we held classes of athletics • In each class, the average was twenty pupils who participated, • and we gave an invitation to them to participate in the • final competition • The total of this phase included about 660 children

  19. activities: Third phase:The final competition Results: • Approximatelly 100 children participated from all schools • Divided in 7 teams • Realization of this final competition inlcuded 30 volunteers • First three teams have won a cup • All participants were given a diploma

  24. Requisites which were drawn on the floor CHALLENGES: EQUIPMENT Hurdles out of plumbing Requisites which were borrowed, such as markers in different colors

  27. With our approach and strategy to solve our problems that we faced during the project, we came to the conclusion that nothing is a problem if there is a DESIRE to solve a problem.

  28. budget: • Project is realized on a volunteer level • Athletic Club Sarajevo helped this project with printing and creating promotional material and diplomas. • Members are self-financed for transport, buying shirts, and food during the implementasion of the project.
