  2. İcheriSheher (Old City or Inner City) is the historical core of Baku.  In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

  7. IcheriSheher comprises over 50 historical and architectural monuments, such as the Shirvanshahs’ Palace and the Maiden’s Tower. These are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List

  14. Swift Building The Common Swift Apusapus (or Swift) is a medium sized bird somewhat similar to the Swallow, but much larger, a faster flier and noisier! 

  15. Despite extensive restoration of the Maiden Tower, the project team were able to keep up to 150 nest cavities in the Tower itself. In addition, many more nest cavities were created on a neighbouring modern building.

  18. The caravanserais in the city of Baku are preserved in Old City as historical and architectural monuments. The Bukhara Caravanserai with its medieval courtyard served as a medieval inn and tavern in the 15th century while the Multani Caravanserai dates to the 14th century. Both inns were presumably built and used by merchants traveling by camel caravan from Bukhara (present-day Uzbekistan) and Multan (India). Both have since been converted into restaurants which serve traditional Azerbaijani cuisine
